New Delhi. Congress on Tuesday declared its senior leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma as its candidate from Kangra Lok Sabha constituency of Himachal Pradesh. The party has given ticket to actor and former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Raj Babbar from Gurgaon parliamentary constituency in Haryana.
According to the list of candidates released by Congress, ticket has been given to Satpal Raizada from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh who will challenge Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur. The party has nominated Bhushan Patel from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, where he will face BJP’s Piyush Goyal.
Anand Sharma, who was the Commerce and Industry Minister in the government led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has been a member of the Rajya Sabha for a long time. His tenure in the Upper House was completed in April 2022, although after this the party did not send him to Rajya Sabha.
Congress has made Raj Babbar its candidate from Gurgaon parliamentary constituency adjacent to Delhi. Raj Babbar, who has been active in the politics of Uttar Pradesh till now, is going to try his political luck in Haryana for the first time. He is considered close to former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda.
Voting will be held for all four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh on June 1 and for all 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana on May 25. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
