New Delhi. Yashraj Sahu, 21, in Kota, Rajasthan, with the help of his partner Rahul Meena, made a handsome profit in just 45 days by cultivating Oyster Mushroom through hanging bags without soil and huge expenditure. Now by putting his own company, he is also offering people to sell mushrooms to them at a price higher than the market price so that he can connect more and more people with the business of mushroom cultivation, Yash has done this amazing work with his own hard work and dedication. He himself prepared a structure from bamboo, green net, black polythene etc. for mushroom cultivation in the vacant plot of 625 square feet. After the structure was prepared, bags were prepared in it for ten consecutive days from 9 pm to 1 pm in which mushroom cultivation could be done in 500 bags. Now he has made up his mind to increase it from 500 bags to 1000 bags and is preparing for the same. Hailing from a poor family, Yash Raj’s goal was accurate from school time. He decided his future in the mushroom business during his schooling and completed his schooling by choosing Agriculture subject in class 11th and then enrolled in B.Sc Agriculture for graduation. He is currently a final year student of B.Sc Agriculture. During his studies in B.Sc, he learned the details of mushroom cultivation for 1 month from an institute named Krishi Van, Dehradun and then in the year 2018, using it as a 50 bag cultivation, he got 80 kg of mushroom. He sold it at Rs.100/- per kg. His experiment was successful but due to Corona, he could not do anything special in it for 2 years.
During this, he contacted the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kota and again in January 2022 prepared 500 bags of mushroom cultivation with new technology, and this time he got more than 1000 kg of mushroom. By selling this oyster mushroom in the market, Yash earned more than Rs.80,000/- even after deducting the cost. Yash sells Fresh Oyster Mushroom for Rs.100-150/- per kg while making dry powder of the same mushroom at Rs.1500 to 2000/- per kg in retail and Rs.1000 to 1200/- per kg in bulk. 100 kg fresh Mushroom yields 10 kg mushroom powder. In this way, Yash is earning from Rs.
Yash says that “I had made up my mind to cultivate mushroom since the time of school, so after taking training from the expert, 3 years ago I started using 50 bags of mushroom farming by preparing the structure on 250 square feet vacant space at home itself, in which result Come as expected. In January this year, with the help of friend Rahul Meena, 500 bags of oysters were prepared for mushroom cultivation. Which yielded a good harvest. On an average, 300-400 grams of oyster mushroom comes out in a bunch, but in my bag’s bunches, up to 700 grams of mushrooms come out. There is no businessman or farmer in the family, so there was some nervousness in the beginning, but now the family members are also happy to see the income of 80 thousand rupees from 45 days of hard work. Now preparations are on to do this on a large scale going forward.
Yash Raj further explains that 500 bags have to be prepared for 1000 kg of fresh mushroom, for which 600 kg of straw, 100 kg of spawn (seed), black polythene of Rs.200/- and rope of Rs.800/- are required. The bamboo structure for oyster mushroom was made and covered with green net, the mushroom bag was kept away from sunlight for 18 days followed by light water sprinkling. The favorable season for mushroom cultivation is from November to January in which the temperature ranges from 24 to 30 degrees. In a year, 6 to 7 crops of oyster mushroom can be planted. Earlier, Yash was facing trouble in selling his mushroom, but with the help of YouTube, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Krish Van Sansthan, now he has a lot of demand, so he has now started setting up plants for interested people by putting his own company. Diyas and whatever production they produce, they buy themselves at a price higher than the market price and sell it further according to demand. Yash also makes and sells fresh mushroom pickles, while selling mushroom powder in the form of papads, capsules and biscuits, he is earning a lot of profit.
