Tamil Nadu, The three accused arrested on charges of Rajiv Gandhi assassination have been released by the Supreme Court. After getting the release order from the court, these three accused will return to Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Because these three accused are basically citizens of Sri Lanka.
According to information received from officials, these four accused named Murugan alias Sriharan, Jayakumar and Robert Payas left for their country in a Sri Lankan flight. In November 2022, the Supreme Court had released seven accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, which included these three Sri Lankan citizens.
Let us tell you, the Supreme Court had released these convicts in November 2022, after which they were kept in a special camp located in Tiruchirappalli for some special reasons. All of them reached here from this camp last night and left for Colombo today i.e. on Wednesday.
The Tamil Nadu government had earlier informed the Madras High Court that all of them can go back to their homes after the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) issues deportation orders. The Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai has already issued travel documents to all of them to return home.
Let us tell you, another convict convicted in the same murder case had died just a few days ago. He was also a citizen of Sri Lanka, whose name was Santhan. Apart from all these, all the other people who were convicted and released in this case are Indians.
Many accused related to this murder have also been released. The recently released convicts include Perarivalan, Ravichandran and Nalini. All these seven convicts have spent more than 30 years in jail, after which they all got release.
