Ranchi: A youth from Jharkhand, Mohammad Ali Hussain, also died in a massive fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in Mangaf area of southern Kuwait two days ago. When Hussain was leaving for Kuwait 18 days ago, his family had not even thought that they were seeing him for the last time. Hussain’s house in Ranchi’s Hindpidhi area was filled with sorrow when his family came to know that he had died in this tragedy that took place in the Kuwait building.
Muhammad Ali was the youngest of three siblings
His father, Mubarak Hussain (57), said Mohammad Ali Hussain (24) was the youngest of three siblings and had gone to Kuwait from Ranchi to help his family. “It was his first time abroad. He told us he had got a job as a salesman there. We never imagined such a big incident would happen in 18 days,” Mubarak said, crying.
Father could not muster courage to tell the sad news to mother
Hussain’s father said that a colleague of his son informed him about his death on Thursday morning, “But till evening I could not muster the courage to tell my wife about this sad news.” Mubarak, who runs a small business of vehicle tyres in Ranchi, said, “My son was doing a course of ‘Certified Management Accountant (CMA)’ after completing his graduation degree. One day suddenly he said that he would go to Kuwait.” He said, “My only request to the Indian government is that arrangements should be made to bring Hussain’s body back to Ranchi.”
A total of 49 people died, including 40 Indians
According to Kuwaiti officials, 49 foreign workers were killed and 50 others were injured in a massive fire in the kitchen of a seven-storey building in Mangaf area of southern Kuwait. About 40 Indians are among the dead. Kuwaiti media reported that most of the people died due to suffocation caused by smoke. It said that 195 migrant workers lived in the building and most of them were Indians from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and northern states. After this incident, there is a demand for action against the building owners and company owners. They violated the law to reduce expenses and kept a large number of foreign workers there in extremely unsafe conditions. (With Bhasha inputs)
