Durg. While delivering the verdict in a case of raping a teenager, the court has sentenced the convicted youth to life in jail. In the case, the court has also recommended the compensation of Rs.1.5 lakh to the victim.
The incident is of Pulgaon police station area. According to the episode, the victim lives with her parents and is studying in class 11th. Accused Ajay Kumar Nishad (24) is also a resident of the victim’s village. From July-2020, the accused used to harass the victim.
When he was not in his parents’ house, he used to go to his house. On 18 November 2020, knowing the victim to be alone in the house, the accused reached her house and forcibly made physical relation with her. He also threatened to kill the victim if she informed anyone about the incident. After this, the accused went to the victim’s house three or four times. The victim got upset and informed her family members about the incident on 24 January 2021.
After this the victim went to another village to stay at her maternal grandmother’s house. After getting information about the victim’s departure to another village, the accused started abusing her parents on the phone itself. On the night of February 15, the accused locked the door of the victim’s parents’ house from outside. After this, the victim’s father lodged a complaint about the incident at Pulgaon police station.
In the case, the police registered an offense against the accused Ajay Kumar Nishad under Section 376(2), 450,506 and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 and presented the case in the court for hearing.
After trial, the court sentenced the accused Ajay Kumar Nishad to remain in jail till Prakrit’s life. The accused has also been punished with fine of five thousand rupees. Along with this, it has also been recommended to give six lakh 50 thousand rupees to the victim as compensation. During the hearing in the court, Special Public Prosecutor Santosh Kasar represented the case on behalf of the government.
