New Delhi, July 23 (IANS)| India’s largest online bus ticketing platform RedBus has announced the launch of Vaccine Bus Services (Vaccinated Bus Service) on over 600 major routes in the country for the first time for the bus transport sector. This new system guarantees to the people traveling that the driver of the bus connected to this service, from the driver to the conductor and all the passengers traveling in it will have been vaccinated against Kovid-19. That is, no crew member or passenger will board this bus without getting vaccinated.
To book tickets under this special bus service, passengers are required to take at least the first dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine and they will have to produce proof of the same at the time of boarding and only then they will be allowed to board the bus. The Vaccinated Bus is being offered in association with private partner bus operators who have a customer rating of more than four out of five stars on the platform. Currently, immunized bus services have started operating on more than 600 routes on RedBus and in which the crew and passengers have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
RedBus is already implementing various safety measures under its Safety Plus programme, a unique certification given to partner bus operators who meet the highest standards of safety and hygiene. These include proper sanitisation of buses after each journey, mandatory masking, hand sanitisation and thermal screening of both passengers and crew. To ensure proper execution of this new system, passengers booking tickets in vaccinated buses will be allowed to board only after presenting their ID proof and vaccination certificate at the time of boarding.
Passengers will also be informed about these requirements through e-mail and SMS before travelling. The partner bus operator staff will physically verify the vaccination certificate/ID proof for all adult passengers before boarding, except for passengers below 18 years of age. Passengers who fail to provide the required proof will be denied boarding.
Speaking on the service, Prakash Sangam, CEO, RedBus said, “As per a recent survey we conducted with our customers, 89 percent of the respondents said that they would prefer to travel in a bus that has all the bus employees. and co-travellers must have taken at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. So it is clear that a vaccinated bus will relieve the passengers to a great extent from their anxiety and restore their confidence to travel which they have all been eagerly waiting for. It is also very encouraging to see our partner bus operators stepping up their efforts to support us in this endeavor. As of now, these services are spread over 600+ routes in the country and we will look to take this initiative forward based on the feedback.
Some of the important routes across the country where immunization buses are currently operational are as follows:
1. Delhi – Chandigarh – Delhi
2. Hyderabad – Tirupati – Hyderabad
3. Ahmedabad – Udaipur – Ahmedabad
4. Bangalore – Coimbatore – Bangalore
5. Delhi – Lucknow – Delhi
