The government has taken strong action against the students celebrating India’s defeat against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Dubai. Taking strict action against the medical students of Srinagar Medical College and Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, the government is taking action under UAPA.
Not only this, the students will be mentioned in the police records as assistants of terrorists. According to the report of an English newspaper, these students will not be given the benefit of any government scheme in future. The government’s message is quite clear that people living in India will not be counted as India’s youth wealth to make them happy for Pakistan. Apart from this, they will also not get government jobs and will not get police clearance for passport and driving license. All these students will have to wander to get a job not only in government but also in private company.
Experts say that UAPA proceedings can go very big. Anticipatory bail is also not available under this law. Apart from this, if the court is also satisfied with the case, then even after registering the case, there is no bail. Under the case, the accused can be sent to 30 days police custody. Most of the judicial custody before filing the charge sheet can also have 180 days. The property of the accused can also be confiscated. If convicted, the accused can be imprisoned for seven years or even for life.
It is noteworthy that there is a lot of outrage among the people after this video of students cheering Pakistan during the match went viral on social media. The police also said that only those students would be booked. Because it may also happen that many students have been forcibly made to support the Pakistani team.
