Women empowerment and women’s equality are talked about across the country. However, even today, in many areas of the country, many tales of atrocities against women in the male dominated society come to the fore. In one such case of atrocities in Deoria, UP, information about a teenager being put to death by her grandfather and uncle came to the fore. The reason for the murder was only that the girl was wearing jeans.
The teenager used to study in Ludhiana and used to wear western clothes despite her grandfather and uncle’s refusal. When she came back to the village, she was forced by her grandfather and uncle not to wear jeans again. When the teenager did not listen to them, the grandfather and uncle started beating her. During this his head hit the wall. He died due to his head banging on the wall. To escape from the police, the grandfather and uncle had thrown his body down from the bridge. However, the body was trapped in the bridge’s mesh.
When people on the road saw this, they informed the police about it. As per the police investigation, when the teenager came back from Ludhiana with her mother, she was forced to wear a salwar suit. However, the girl refused to accept this fact. The police had taken her grandfather Hasnain into custody in connection with the murder of the teenager, but till now the uncle has absconded. However, till now the girl’s mother has not given any request to the police.
