Controversy escalated after Tamil Nadu’s Dharmapuri Adhir Math decided to ban the age-old tradition. The ruling DMK government of Tamil Nadu is being strongly criticized for this matter. At the same time, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has made a big allegation on the MK Stalin government regarding this. Subramanian Swamy has put the DMK government in the dock, saying that anti-Hindu sentiment is increasing rapidly in the state.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said, “They can say whatever they want. Anti-Hindu sentiment is on the rise in Tamil Nadu. People seem to be more concerned about attacks on minorities in India. Hindus are also not united and they are not in a position to do anything but something should be done soon in this matter.”
In fact, there is an old tradition of carrying the palanquin of the Mahant on the shoulder by the office bearers and followers of the Math during the Shobha Yatra. But the administration has now banned it. The administration has called it a violation of human rights. At the same time, after this step of the administration, there is a lot of displeasure among the devotees.
Regarding this matter, the devotees said that the age-old tradition cannot be stopped. He says that this procession has never been stopped. Devotees have said that efforts are being made by the administration to interfere in religious works. He has demanded permission from CM Stalin to take out this Shobha Yatra. People associated with the monastery say that Dharmapuri Adhiyanam has the same place in the Shaivism as Vatican City for Catholic Christians.
Administration banned Shobha Yatra
According to the centuries-old tradition at Dharmapuri Adhir Math, a procession is carried out by carrying the Mahant of Dharmapuri Adhinam in a palanquin on his shoulder. But, till now the administration has not allowed it. The procession was to be taken out on 22 May.
