On Friday (29 April 2022) in Patiala, Punjab, there was a dispute between the two parties over the procession on Khalistan near the Kali temple. Swords were waved from both sides and stone pelting took place. This dispute increased so much that the police had to control the matter by firing in the air. The incident of violence took place after Sikh for Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu called for hoisting the Khalistan flag in Shimla on Friday. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu runs a pro-Khalistan organization ‘Sikhs for Justice’ while living abroad. In fact, on 29 April 1986, Gurvachan Singh Manochhal hoisted the flag in Amritsar to demand Khalistan in Punjab. Remembering the same day, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had given a call to hoist the flag. Gurpatwant Singh is a most wanted terrorist of India based in America. He was declared a terrorist in UAPA on 1 July 2020 and since 2020 he is facing sedition case in Amritsar and Kapurthala. Thereafter, the NIA ordered the confiscation of his immovable properties located in Amritsar under Section 51A of the UAPA Act 1967.
The leader of ‘Sikhs for Justice’: Pannu describes himself as the kingpin of ‘Sikhs for Justice’, which is carrying out its plans on the basis of Pakistan’s notorious intelligence agency ISI. In all the countries of the world including America, Britain, his organization keeps spreading anti-India propaganda and brags about the establishment of Khalistan. Its main motive is to spread unrest in Punjab regarding the demand of Khalistan. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu keeps running propaganda of war against India through social media.
Khalistan Day on 29th April: Gurpatwant Singh Pannu was born in Khankot village of Amritsar. Later he went abroad and is trying to revive Khalistani separatism in Punjab with the help of ISI. Pannu had recently announced on his YouTube channel that Khalistani flag would be hoisted in all SP and DC offices from Gurugram to Ambala in Haryana. After this, a case of sedition was registered against him in Gurugram on 16 April 2022. Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had announced to celebrate April 29 as ‘Khalistan Day’.
Violence erupts in Patiala: The leaders of Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) wanted to take out a procession against Khalistan, but the police did not give permission. Even after that, when this procession came out, some people came against it and violence broke out. Curfew has been imposed in the city after the violence. This curfew has been imposed from 7 pm to 6 am.
