Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday (May 5, 2022) targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the violence that took place in various states of the country last month. Challenging he said that if you have the guts, then get the riots investigated in various states including Karauli and go to the root of the matter. He said Shah should constitute a panel to find out the reasons.
Let us inform that there was violence on 2 April in Karauli, Rajasthan. During this, stones were allegedly pelted at a bike rally on the occasion of Hindu New Year. Several vehicles and shops were set ablaze during this period. More than 35 people were injured in this violence.
Terming the clashes in Karauli a “laboratory experiment”, Ashok Gehlot said, “We did not allow any riots on Ram Navami.” “Like Karauli, there were riots in seven states, which should be probed,” he said. Talking to reporters in Udaipur, he said that the investigation will clear everything and there will be no such riots in future.
Responding to a question on the repeated violence in Rajasthan, Gehlot said, “It is their (BJP) attempt to ignite fire as they are losing the next (assembly) election.” After taking stock of the preparations for Congress’ Chintan Shivir to be held in Udaipur from May 13 to 15, Gehlot said that politics in the name of religion and caste is dangerous and does not benefit the country. Expressing concern over the recent situation in the country, he said, “The situation in the country is very serious. The way politics is being done in the name of religion and caste is dangerous. Some people may like it, but it is not beneficial for the country.
Praising former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Gehlot said India remained undivided for 70 years due to the efforts of leaders like them. The Congress leader alleged that the present generation does not know about it, which is being taken advantage of by the BJP and the RSS.
Gehlot said, “Everywhere, they are running an agenda. It was his plan to promote riots in Karauli, Rajgarh and Jodhpur. We acted on time, so it was reduced to sporadic incidents.” He said that many people have been arrested and the government will not allow violence in Rajasthan at any cost. The Chief Minister said that ideological battles have their place but it is the responsibility of political leaders to maintain peace and brotherhood so that no one gets hurt.
