JDU’s state secretary and Danapur Municipal Council vice-president Deepak Mehta was shot dead last night in Danapur area of Bihar’s capital Patna. At around 10 pm last night, the miscreants targeted Deepak when he was getting the construction related items unloaded outside the house. The killing of a JDU (Janata Dal United) leader created a stir in the area. Then the agitated people started a ruckus by blocking the road.
According to the information, JDU State Secretary and Danapur Municipal Council Vice President Deepak Mehta had recently announced to contest the elections from Danapur Assembly. For this reason he had also received threats earlier. In Deepak Mehta’s murder case, his family members are taking the name of a local miscreant and leader. After the killing of the JDU leader, there is an atmosphere of tension in the area and angry people have also carried out arson at various places.
If reports are to be believed, the bike-borne miscreants fired at least five bullets at Deepak. These bullets were hit near Deepak’s head, stomach and lungs. After the incident, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Deepak Mehta was threatened by a local bully after he announced to contest the assembly elections from Danapur. According to the family, even after this threat, the police could not reach the criminals.
Deepak Mehta had also got the boundary of his house raised after receiving the threat. Along with politics, he was also in the business of property dealing and construction. For this reason, he had also made an office in the name of a DK property dealer in Takiyapur area, a little far from Danapur. It is being told that Deepak had organized the Holi Milan ceremony a few days ago, in which leaders like JDU’s Upendra Kushwaha and BJP’s RK Sinha attended.
Deepak Mehta, who was the state secretary of JDU, was considered close to Upendra Kushwaha. Prior to JDU, he was associated with Upendra Kushwaha’s Lok Samta Party. After the murder of the JDU leader, the angry people had vandalized vehicles along with arson. However, heavy police force has been deployed in the area. In this case, JDU’s parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha has demanded the arrest of the killers at the earliest.
