A video went viral on social media on Friday in which a man was carrying the body of his 7-year-old daughter on his shoulder. After the video went viral, State Health Minister TS Singh Deo has ordered an inquiry into the incident. According to officials, the girl died on Friday morning at the Community Health Center at Lakhanpur village in the district and her father took away the body before the vehicle could reach.
Officials said Ishwar Das, a native of Amdala village, had brought his ailing daughter Surekha to Lakhanpur Community Health Center early in the morning, where the girl was declared brought dead. Rural Medical Assistant Dr Vinod Bhargava said that the girl’s oxygen level was very low, around 60, as reported by NDTV. According to her parents, she was suffering from high fever for the past few days. Necessary treatment was started, but his condition deteriorated and he died at around 7.30 am.
Vinod Bhargava told that, “We told the family members that soon a funeral will come. By around 9:20 am, the crematorium arrived but by then they had left with the body.” Ishwar Das carried his deceased girl on his shoulder and covered a distance of about 10 kms on foot. As soon as the State Health Minister TS Singh Deo came to know about the incident, he immediately ordered an inquiry into it.
TS Singh Deo about the incident While talking in the media, he said, “The CMHO has been ordered to investigate the incident and in case of negligence, the BMO should be changed. The concerned health officer of Lakhanpur village should have persuaded the father to wait for the funeral instead of carrying the dead body like this.”
At the same time, health workers have staged a sit-in in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. These health workers have 6 point demands which they want the government to fulfill. Health workers allege that the state government did not fulfill the promise of its manifesto.
