A case of sub-variant XE of the Omicron strain of corona infection has been reported in India. The infected patient has been found in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) gave this information on Wednesday. Last week the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a warning about the mutants. He had said that this variant may spread faster than any other strain of corona.
According to the information, one case of Kappa variant also came to light. Patients with the new variant of the virus do not have any severe symptoms so far. The patient infected with the new variant is a 50-year-old female costume designer. She had returned from South Africa on 10 February. The BMC said in its release that she was found infected with COVID on March 2.
The BMC said that apart from returning from South Africa, he has no travel history and has received both doses of the vaccine. On coming to India, she was found to be corona negative. However, on March 2, she was found infected in routine tests. After this he was quarantined in a room at Taj Lane End Hotel. The testing done the next day i.e. on March 3 was found to be negative.
