The BJP is back in power with a thumping victory under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath. At present, the new government has not been formed, but it has come into action. An exercise is underway to set up EWS Welfare Board for the economically backward classes in the state. UP will be the first state where such a board will be constituted. Its free ration scheme is also an exercise to be extended till 2024.
The work of the EWS Welfare Board will be to oversee the compliance of EWS reservation rules in educational institutions and jobs. Apart from this, it will also give recommendations to the government for the welfare of backward classes. The board will have high-level representatives from the technical department, education department and recruitment commissions.
The government asked for a blueprint- According to the information, the Uttar Pradesh government has sought the blueprint of the EWS Welfare Board within two to three days. The Minister of Social Welfare will be the President and the Minister of State will be the Vice President. Principal secretary of technical education department, medical education and vocational education department will also be made a part of it. Apart from this, the officers of UP Public Service Commission and Subordinate Services Selection Commission will also be in it. Immediately after the formation of the new government, the cabinet can issue a proposal on this.
Who gets the benefit of EWS reservation- The benefit of EWS reservation is available to people who do not come under the SC, ST, or OBC category, whose annual income is less than Rs.8 lakh. Such people get 10 percent reservation in assembly, educational, technical institutions and government jobs.
Free ration distribution will continue even after Holi The free ration distribution scheme in Uttar Pradesh is going to continue even after Holi. Yogi Adityanath-led government has made a plan to expand it. It is worth noting that with a thumping victory, the BJP is once again going to form the government in the state. Along with this, giving good news to 15 crore poor of the state, it is preparing to extend this scheme till the year 2024. The Food and Logistics Department has sent a proposal regarding this to the government. A final decision on this will be taken soon.
The plan was started during the pandemic- The scheme to provide free ration to the poor was started during the Corona epidemic in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier it was only till November 2021, but in view of the impact on the income of the people due to elections and the pandemic, it was extended till March 2022. This greatly benefited the party in the assembly elections. Under the scheme, Intyodaya card holders get 35 kg of food grains. Along with this, eligible household card holders get five kg of food grains per unit. In this, three kg of wheat and two kg of rice are available.
