Though the exact identity of the Naxalites killed in Saturday’s action is yet to be ascertained, there is speculation that a prominent leader of an illegal organization was also among the slain Naxals. Goyal, however, declined to comment. On Friday, there was a tip-off about the gathering of some Naxalites and some activities are expected to be planned in the area, following which the security forces launched a search operation. They came face-to-face with the extremists during the operation, causing gunshots to erupt in the fierce forest, which continued till Saturday evening. The new operation is the biggest success ever recorded for the security forces.
