A 25-year-old man in Gujarat has been sentenced to death by a court for raping and killing his minor cousin. The sessions court in Deesa has given this verdict in the case in which the accused had taken his cousin on the pretext of showing him the Dantiwada dam on 16 October 2020. The cousin of the accused and the 11-year-old victim was speech and hearing impaired.
The sessions court in Deesa sentenced the man to death who had exceeded the limits of cruelty to the little girl. The accused took the girl away on October 16, 2020, by offering to show her the Dantiwada dam. But he took the girl to the forest area near Moti Bhakhar village, 10 km from Deesa. Where the accused, after raping the victim, had also damaged her private parts with the use of a wooden stick and then beheaded.
After committing this incident in the forest area near Moti Bhakhar village, the accused fled away after throwing the dead body. The severed head of the girl was also found in the forest area. After the complaint in the case, the police had scanned the CCTV footage of the crime scene and the way in their investigation. After examining several footages, in one the accused was seen on a bike with his cousin. In which he was clearly seen taking the victim on his bike.
Special Public Prosecutor CG Rajput said that the police had called the accused in the case for questioning after getting evidence against him. At first the accused did not give satisfactory answers, but after rigorous interrogation by the police, he confessed to his crime. Along with this, he had also told the whole incident in a sequential manner.
In this case, a case was registered under Section 307 of IPC and Section 4 and 6 of Prevention of Child Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act at Dantiwada police station on the complaint of the victim’s father. Special Public Prosecutor CG Rajput said, “This is the first case of death penalty in Banaskantha after the Prevention of Children Against Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act came into force.
