On Saturday, top officials of the Industries Department of Bhagalpur’s Textile and Silk Institute took stock. The Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Sandeep Pondrick told the reporters that efforts have been started to revive the Silk and Textile Institute, which has been closed for years. He expressed the hope that soon its days will be bright. Said that the possibility of re-education is being explored here.
It is the only institute in Asia, where once the postgraduate level of sericulture was done. But it was closed during the Lalu-Rabri Raj. The Nitish government also did nothing special for this. Now since Shahnawaz Hussain has taken over the charge of the Industries Ministry of Bihar, since then attention is being paid to revive this institute.
He had visited the closed building of the institute as soon as he took over as the minister. Then he had assured to start this soon. The officers’ visit is an initiative of that chain.
The Principal Secretary said that this inspection has been done to re-start the institute and take stock of the subjects of education. In this regard, after deliberation at the departmental and state government level, further decision will be taken in the direction of starting it.
Regarding resuming studies in the Silk and Textile Institute, Nathnagar, the Principal Secretary, Industries Department said that some subjects can be started here in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology. At the same time, he said that the Industries Department is trying to help those people associated with silk production and business who lack common infrastructure. Survey is also being conducted for this. And applications have also been sought.
He said that a meeting would be held with the District Magistrate and other officials of the Industries Department on all these issues. Along with this, with the intention of promoting the industry in the district, a meeting will also be held with the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana and office bearers of Biada Industrial Area, Burari in the city.
State Handloom and Silk Center Director Pankaj Dixit, District Industries Center General Manager Sanjay Kumar Verma and Sadar SDO Dhananjay Kumar were present along with the Principal Secretary.
