An initiative of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port, Kolkata, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, aims to create an atmosphere ahead of the mega sporting event that begins on July 23.

Today the Howrah Bridge or Rabindra Setu is shining in colors representing the confluence of the world’s greatest athletes from five continents at the Tokyo Olympic Games, said a short video posted by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port. The five interlaced rings – blue, yellow, black, green and red – are the Olympic symbol, symbolizing the union of the five continents.
More than 11,000 athletes are competing in the Tokyo Olympics, to which India has sent 127 athletes. Will compete in 18 sports. India’s main medal hopes are in shooting, boxing, archery, wrestling, badminton, men’s hockey and athletics.
