Former Union Minister and actor Shatrughan Sinha, who switched from Bharatiya Janata Party to Congress, has now joined Trinamool Congress (TMC). The party has made him a candidate in the by-election from the Asansol Lok Sabha seat. In such a situation, he is now preparing for election rallies. Meanwhile, he spoke to The Indian Express. During this, he targeted the BJP for being told outsiders. Also told that answered questions like leaving Congress and joining TMC.
BJP called you an outsider, how are you countering this? Replying to this question, Shatrughan Sinha said, “I am very close to Bengal, Bengali culture, language, food and Bengali cinema. I also speak Bengali very well. Now Asansol is a metropolitan area. People from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra have settled here and are doing business here. I want to ask those who are calling me outsider, especially my friends from BJP, what will they say about our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who contested from Varanasi? If he is not an outsider then how am I an outsider?
Sinha further said, “Our great leader George Fernandes won from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, Sharad Yadav won from Madhepura in Bihar, Narasimha Rao won from Ramtek in Maharashtra; Babasaheb Ambedkar won from Bengal losing from Maharashtra, Indira Gandhi won from Chikmagalur, Rahul Gandhi also won from Wayanad. Smriti Irani also won from Amethi. India is a big country. From Kanyakumari to Kashmir, people have the right to work and settle anywhere and contest elections from anywhere. It has been done before and will continue to do so. ,
How did you join TMC? Responding to this, Shatrughan Sinha said that he has been a big supporter of Mamta ji. Recalling the meeting of the Brigade Parade Ground in the year 2019, he said that he was one of the important speakers. During this, while targeting the BJP, he said that BJP is not the party of Atal Bihari Bajpayee today. BJP is today Narendra Modi’s party, where arrogance is high. He alleged that he was asked to leave the party for raising his voice for the people.
Sinha praised Mamta and said that Mamta Banerjee was the first to raise her voice against demonetisation. After this he (Shatrughan Sinha) raised his voice. He also raised his voice about the complicated GST. Whenever Mamta used to come to Delhi, he used to meet her. He also met him in Mumbai. He realized that sometimes there is a need to change the path to walk on the right path. Last month, when Mamta’s party nominated Shatrughan, she called him and called him to Asansol. After coming here, he came to know that this is a historic opportunity for him and he is very honored to have it. He has got a lot of love from the people here.
Why suddenly left Congress: Shatrughan Sinha said about this, “I do not want to talk about Congress right now for two reasons. The first reason is that I am focusing on the elections in Asansol. I don’t want to divert my energy or attention. Secondly, unfortunately the Congress is passing through a crisis phase. In this time of crisis, they need ointment on their wounds. I don’t want to say such things which will act as a sprinkling of salt on their wounds. I still have great respect for Sonia ji and Congress. But the truth is that they are going through a crisis.
