The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a charge sheet against Bhupinder Singh Honey. Bhupendra Singh Honey is the nephew of former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. ED has registered a charge seat in the case of illegal sand mining. On January 18, the Enforcement Directorate raided the residence of Bhupinder Singh, in which illegal assets worth more than 10 crores were recovered. On the night of February 3, ED arrested Bhupendra Singh Honey after a long interrogation.
The Enforcement Directorate has also named another person in the chargesheet and a case has been registered against him under the PMLA Act. The matter will be heard in a special court on April 6. The ED had also raided the houses of close relatives of Bhupendra Singh Honey, in which the name of Kudratdeep Singh was also included. The name of Kudratdeep Singh has also been mentioned in the charge sheet.
The ED has initiated money laundering investigation on the basis of an FIR registered under sections 379, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and sections 21(1) and 4 of the IPC at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar police station. The FIR stated that on the basis of a complaint received at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar police station regarding illegal sand, a team of officials of the Mining Department, Civil Administration and Police Department conducted a surprise inspection on 7 March 2018.
