People are facing all-round blows of inflation, where in a way, taking loans including food items has also become expensive. On the other hand, fuel prices are increasing continuously. Although the prices of petrol and diesel have remained stable after crossing Rs 100, but the prices of CNG continue to rise.
According to news agency PTI, auto-rickshaws and taxis may increase fares due to increase in CNG prices. The report said that a committee of the Delhi government has recommended for revision of fares of auto-rickshaws and taxis in line with the hike in fuel price. This committee has been constituted by the Delhi government for fare revision.
Report can be submitted in two days
It is expected that this week itself, the committee will finalize the report regarding revision of fare, after which the report will be submitted. The report will be submitted to Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot and will then go for cabinet approval. At the same time, the PTI report said that two meetings of the committee have been held and the revised fare report can be presented in the next two days.
Officers roaming in taxis and autos for the last 15 days
To understand the demands and expectations of the drivers, some of the committee members have been traveling by taxis and autos for the last two weeks. For the past 15 days, officials have been roaming around in auto-rickshaws and taxis in Delhi to inquire about the demands of the drivers and their expectations from the fare revision exercise, the agency said.
Some auto and taxi unions expressed concern
However, some auto and taxi unions have expressed concern over the possible hike in fares, saying it will strengthen competition with cab aggregators. Because then like cabs, it will also allow passengers to travel at a lower cost.
