Former Haryana Congress leader Ashok Tanwar will join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday. Ashok Tanwar had joined TMC in the month of November last year. But now Ashok Tanwar is also disillusioned with TMC. Ashok Tanwar has also been the Haryana Congress state president and left the Congress after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and before the assembly elections. After that in 2021, Ashok Tanwar formed his own party named ‘Apna Bharat Morcha’.
Ashok Tanwar was elected MP from Sirsa Lok Sabha seat in Haryana in 2009. In 2014, Congress made him Haryana Pradesh Congress President. However, he lost the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the party’s performance in the state was also very poor. Ashok Tanwar was counted among the leaders close to Rahul Gandhi, but just before the 2019 assembly elections, he accused the party of corruption in ticket distribution and left the party.
Ashok Tanwar has also been the National President of NSUI, the student wing of Congress and during his tenure, NSUI’s performance in Delhi University student union elections was also better than before. Ashok Tanwar was got the membership of TMC by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in November 2021, but today he will join AAP in Delhi.
AAP is expanding its organization in Haryana and in view of that the party is trying to get leaders of other parties to join AAP. The party has also appointed its Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta as in-charge of Haryana. Sushil Gupta claims that after March 10, more than 1 lakh people have joined Congress in Haryana.
Aam Aadmi Party is a child party: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij targeted the Aam Aadmi Party and said that AAP is a child party and it is not fully aware of the issues.
