At the same time, the Education Minister of Kerala has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
KV Sasikumar, a former teacher of St. Gemas Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Malappuram and a member of the Malappuram Municipal Council, was arrested by the police on Friday. Meanwhile, Kerala Education Minister V Shivankutty has ordered a probe into the incident. The Minister directed Public Education Director Babu K. The IAS has been ordered to investigate the shortcomings of the school management and submit the report at the earliest.
Let us inform that after registering a case under POCSO section at Malappuram Women’s Police Station, Sasikumar had absconded. A week after the absconding, the police were able to arrest the teacher. A complaint was lodged against Sasikumar even when he was posted as a teacher in the school. Following this, more than 50 students have filed complaints against Sasikumar.
CPM leader and three-time Malappuram Municipal Councilor KV Sasikumar had retired from St. Gemas Girls’ Higher Secondary School in March 2022. The first ‘#MeToo’ allegation was made by one of the school’s alumni after a Facebook post on Sasikumar’s retirement from teaching. After this, Sasikumar resigned from the post of Municipal Councilor after complaints from more students came to the fore simultaneously.
According to the school’s alumni union, some students had filed a complaint against Sasikumar in 2019, but the school management did not take any action against him. The alumni union had approached the Malappuram district police chief with several complaints. Following these incidents, Sasikumar, a member of the CPI(M) branch committee, was expelled from the party.
