Congress has targeted the Modi government over the dirt in the Ganges river. Congress has shared an old video of PM Narendra Modi, in which he is saying that if someone goes to Banaras and says that if he cleans the Ganges, people will not agree, but if Modi says then people will agree. By sharing this video of the Prime Minister, Congress asked what happened to your promise?
In the video, PM Modi is saying that we have shown it by doing so people have faith. The tag of Sabarmati Riverfront is upon us. Along with this, in this clip, the Ganges around the Scindia Ghat of Banaras is shown which is quite dirty and green moss has accumulated on it. The entire water of the Ganges has turned green.
Along with the video, Congress wrote in the tweet, “What happened to your promise? Under the government of Narendra Modi, who talked about cleaning and repairing the Ganga in Banaras, the condition of the Ganges has become so bad that the water has started looking green due to the accumulation of moss. The condition is that people are finding it difficult to differentiate between the water of the Ganges and the stagnant water.”
Modi government had started a mission to clean Ganga: It is worth noting that for cleaning the river Ganga, the Modi government started the ‘Namami Gange’ mission in 2015 after coming to power. The objective of this mission is to purify the water of river Ganga and integrate all the projects related to it. A total of 347 projects have been approved under this program at a cost of Rs 30,255 crore.
Ganga more dirty than before: During a recent program, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had said that the Prime Minister had started the Namami Gange project for Nirmal and Aviral Ganga. Under the Ganga Action Plan, a campaign was started in 1986 to clean the Ganga in four states, in which a lot of money was spent, but the result was not good. After the formation of the Modi government at the Center, when it was evaluated, it was found that the Ganga had become more dirty than before. The worst situation was in Kanpur.
