In Maharashtra, the troubles of former state intelligence chief Rashmi Shukla in the alleged phone-tapping case of politicians are not seeming to end. Now Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has filed a defamation claim of 500 crores on Rashmi Shukla in a court. It is to be known that IPS officer Rashmi Shukla is currently on central deputation.
According to information in the case, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has filed a defamation case of Rs 500 crore in a civil court against IPS officer and former state intelligence chief Rashmi Shukla and others for allegedly tapping phones. It has also sought a permanent prohibition order to prevent misuse of information collected through alleged illegal phone tapping.
In this case, on Wednesday, Civil Judge VB Gor issued a notice to Rashmi Shukla and others asking them to file their reply before April 12. Let us inform that Rashmi Shukla is presently on central deputation and posted as Additional Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Hyderabad.
Besides Rashmi Shukla, police inspector (technical analysis department) in Pune crime branch Vaishali Chandgude, additional chief secretary of the state home department and police commissioners of Pune and Nagpur have been served with notices. Maharashtra Congress President and MLA from Bhandara district Nana Patole has alleged that the previous Maharashtra government (BJP-led) had hatched a conspiracy against him for political purposes.
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole lodged the case through State Congress Legal Cell President Ravi Jadhav and Secretary Vaibhav Jagtap. It is worth noting that the Mumbai Police had recorded the statement of Rashmi Shukla in connection with the alleged illegal tapping of the phone. At the same time, an FIR was registered against IPS officer Rashmi Shukla by Colaba Police in Mumbai earlier this month under relevant sections of the Indian Telegraph Act and Indian Penal Code and earlier this by Pune Police in connection with alleged illegal tapping of phones.
