The increasing cybercrime in the country is now targeting the personal life of the common man apart from his money. A 31-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with the Jogeshwari Police in Mumbai. In the complaint, the woman has claimed that hackers are trying to sabotage the marriage using her social media chats.
According to Jogeshwari police, a 31-year-old Mumbai-based woman working in a business process management company has lodged an FIR against unidentified persons. The woman claimed that her social media profile was hacked first. Then her chats were changed due to which her fiancé is now threatening to annul their marriage.
Considering the gravity of the matter, Jogeshwari police had on March 25 registered an FIR against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act for impersonation and defamation. The woman told that even in the year 2018, some people had created a fake Instagram account using her name and photo. After which he got that fake account blocked by registering a complaint with the police.
According to the complainant woman, once again her Facebook social media profile was hacked in January 2022. Then in March this year, some fraudsters hacked his Gmail account. After hacking Gmail, the hackers accessed her private chats and then those chats were sent to the acquaintances of the woman.
In the FIR lodged with Jogeshwari police, the woman has told that one of the people to whom the hackers had sent those chats was her fiancé. Now the fiancé is threatening to end their marriage. The woman has feared the hand of a former colleague behind this whole incident.
The woman told that some time ago that colleague had proposed to her but she had turned down the colleague’s proposal. According to the complainant woman, after that incident he started harassing her. However, Jogeshwari police said that they are taking technical help from cyber police in this matter and are investigating.
