Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation has issued a new order, under which it will now be mandatory for the operators to keep the age information of the passengers traveling in their respective buses. However, this is just a survey, under which the corporation wants to find out what percentage of senior citizens travel on an average in transport corporation buses and what other facilities can be increased for them.
Under the new order of the Transport Corporation, when a person travels in a transport corporation bus, the operators will only ask for his age. Transport Corporation’s Meerut zone manager KK Sharma told PTI-language that, “The purpose of the latest orders of the administration is only to know what is the average number of general and senior citizens traveling daily in UP Transport Corporation buses. So that on its basis the necessary facilities for senior citizens can be increased.
KK Sharma further said that before doing anything new, a survey has to be done. He also told that the passengers will not have to show any paper as proof of age, instead they will give their age orally. The age mentioned by the passengers will be entered in the operator details.
Recently, the Transport Corporation had also issued an order for the accredited journalists, under which it was said in the circular that it has been brought to the notice by the UP Working Journalists Union that there are already passengers on the seats reserved for accredited journalists. They keep sitting, due to which journalists find it difficult to travel. The union demanded that the reserved seats be given to the journalists on their arrival.
Regarding the problem of journalists, the Transport Corporation said in its order that if a person sits on a seat reserved for journalists, then the operator should inform the passenger while sitting that this seat is reserved for a recognized journalist and leave this seat on his arrival.
