Congress-backed MLA from Vadgam in Gujarat Jignesh Mevani on Monday targeted the BJP and PM Modi, two days after he was released from jail in Assam. He said cases were registered against me to “finish and defame” me ahead of the assembly elections in Gujarat. It was part of a “pre-planned conspiracy”.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, Mevani said, “Some Godse devotees sitting in the PMO got two FIRs lodged against me because of a tweet. While there are more serious cases in the country. This shows their intention. Mevani said that he would not bow down to such pressures as he is “a flower not a fire”.
He said that there is every possibility that the government may have installed some device in their electronic devices including mobile phones and laptops seized from them and their team members.
Mevani questioned whether no action has been taken on several incidents apart from the statement made in the Dharma Sansad regarding the massacre, drug recovery worth Rs 1,75,000 crore at the Mundra airport. But in the case registered against me, the Assam Police reached Gujarat in one night after traveling 2,500 kms.
He said that the speed with which the Assam Police reached to arrest me clearly shows that a conspiracy was already hatched against me.
Why was the arrest made? It is worth mentioning that Jignesh Mevani was arrested by the Assam Police from Palanpur Circuit House in Gujarat on late night of 21 April in a case of making objectionable remarks against PM pic.twitter.com/MTUrPcR1VY
