Citing a government order in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the booking of the auditorium for the program of famous writer Shamsul Islam has been canceled. Many eminent people were going to attend this program as speakers.
The event was scheduled to be held at Indore’s Jal Auditorium. But a day before the event, a letter was sent to its organizers, stating that they are canceling this booking due to the government order. The organizers on Friday again sought permission for the event, after which the auditorium owner said that he cannot allow the event due to “unavoidable reasons”.
The event was organized by the organization of Supreme Court lawyer Ehtesham Hashmi and Congress spokesperson Aminul Suri. Many veterans including Congress leader Digvijay Singh, writer Ashok Pandey, Motivational Speaker Nasir Khan were to attend.
MC Rawat, secretary of the Textile Development Trust, which runs this auditorium, told NDTV that we have been told by the administration that the program cannot be held here. Hence the permission has been revoked. He said- “The government had asked us not to allow it. If the government says they want to take it tomorrow, I will have to give it.”
On the other hand, Shamsul Islam said that he talks about the need for religious harmony and is roaming across the country for this. Although some people don’t like it. He said- “Some people are trying to create division between Hindus and Muslims. I wanted to read here Maulana Hasrat Mohani’s song about Lord Krishna. I have read it in 20 places in Bhopal and no problem. But they want me to stop.”
Now questions are being raised on the government after the cancellation of this program. However, no response has come from the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government of the state on this matter.
