A couple’s plan to dispose of a 21-year-old woman’s body at an isolated place in Channapatna area, 60 km from Bengaluru, failed when two bike-borne men with her body crashed in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ramanagara town. fell victim to Now four people including the couple have been arrested in this case.
According to police, Soumya, a resident of RR Nagar in Bengaluru, died on Monday after she had a fight with a couple in her neighborhood, Raghu (30) and Durga (28), over some money they had borrowed. Saumya and the couple reportedly had a tussle several times over the issue in the past as well. However, in the clash that took place on Monday, Raghu allegedly slapped her (Saumya) and she died.
Panicked by the incident, the couple allegedly kept the body inside their house for at least eight hours. Then decided to burn the dead body at a secluded place in Channapatna. Police said the couple sought the help of their friends Nagraj (18) and Vinod (19) during this time. In such a situation, late on Monday night, Nagraj-Vinod and Raghu-Durga left for Channapatna on two bikes with the dead body.
As they reached in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ramnagar town at around 2 pm after walking 40 km on Monday night, Vinod could not see the speed breaker and his bike went out of control. During this Vinod, Nagraj fell along with Soumya’s dead body. Meanwhile, some passers-by and a police team on patrol reached the spot to rescue them. Then all three were sent to the Government Hospital in Ramnagar.
On the other hand, unaware of the accident, Raghu and Durga kept waiting near Channapatna. During this, the murder came to light when the duty doctor at Ramnagar Hospital examined Soumya’s body. He said that it has been more than eight hours since the woman (Saumya) died. After this the police caught Vinod and Nagraj and then called Raghu. Later they were arrested after searching for the couple.
However, the police are yet to ascertain whether Saumya had borrowed money or stole it. A police officer said that when Saumya’s parents were looking for her, Raghu and Durga denied knowing about her. Whereas the truth was that during that time Soumya’s body was lying inside their (Raghu-Durga) room.
