Today PM Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of Jewar International Airport. On this occasion, while describing CM Yogi as Karmayogi, he counted the development works done in the state, while shooting arrows at the opposition parties too. Noida International Airport located in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh is about 80 km away from Delhi. The first phase of the airport is being developed at a cost of over Rs 10,050 crore.
Talking about this airport, Jewar Airport is spread over more than 13 hundred hectares of land and its first phase will be completed by 2024. It will have a capacity to handle around 12 million passengers a year. After the completion of all the four phases, this capacity will increase to 70 million passengers. Initially, two airstrips will be operational at Jewar airport. The contract for the development of this airport has been awarded to Zurich Airport International.
With the construction of this airport, Uttar Pradesh will become the only state in India to have five international airports. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, there are 4-4 international airports in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Earlier, the International Airport has started at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, the work of International Airport in Ayodhya is going on.
Talking about the specialty, facilities like ground transportation center, multi-modal transit center, stations of metro and high-speed railways, taxi, bus service and private vehicle parking will be available at Noida International Airport. The airport will also be connected through a metro service. Along with this Yamuna Expressway, Western Peripheral Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will also be connected to the airport.
The most important thing is that Noida International Airport will be the first airport in India, where there will be zero emissions. A portion of the airport will be used for planting trees to be removed from the project site. According to the PMO, the work related to land acquisition for the first phase and rehabilitation of the affected families has been completed. The Jewar airport will be developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), in which Zurich Airport International has a 100% stake. NIAL, the company formed to operate the Noida International Airport, will have one percent stake in YIAPL.
