The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday decided that there will be no penalty for not wearing face masks in public places in the national capital. However, the DDMA has said that people should wear masks in crowded places. This decision was taken in a meeting of DDMA chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. The decision has been taken in view of the steady decline in the cases of Corona. Significantly, in Delhi, there was a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing a mask in public places.
In the last DDMA meeting, the penalty for not wearing a mask was reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500. Corona-related restrictions were eased in early February. In February, the Delhi government had done away with the mandatory wearing of masks in a private car by issuing an order. The decline in the cases of corona infection in Delhi continues. 123 new cases were reported in Delhi on Wednesday and the daily positivity rate is 0.5 percent. During this, one patient died.
