Two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter between local Lashkar terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. The encounter took place in Rainawari area of Srinagar. The terrorists killed in the encounter have been identified as residents of Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Both the slain terrorists were associated with the dreaded terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
A police official said that the security forces had cordoned off the area at midnight and started a search operation, after which an encounter with terrorists took place there and then in retaliation, two terrorists were killed. The slain terrorists were identified as Rais Ahmed Bhatt and Hilal Ahmed Raha. A press ID card has also been found from Rais Ahmed Bhatt, on which the editor-in-chief is written in big words.
Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar tweeted that, “One of the slain terrorists had a press card, which clearly indicates the misuse of media.” Kashmir Zone Police said, “The terrorist killed (Raees Ahmed Bhatt) was earlier a journalist and was running online news portal ‘Valley News Service’ in Anantnag. He joined terrorist rank in August 2021 and was in ‘C’ category in our list. He already has 2 cases registered against him for terror offences.
