Controversy over halal meat is increasing in Karnataka. Union minister Shobha Karandlaje and Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa have reacted by saying that halal meat should not be forcibly imposed on Hindus. Shobha Karandlaje has said that Halal meat is eaten by some people and Hindus do not need to eat it.
The Union Minister said that if people of Muslim society eat Halal meat, then we have no objection to it. It is not right to force us to eat it. Recently, the demand for certificates for Halal meat has increased. He said that the matter is currently in the court. Public opinion should be taken in the matter. On Shivamogga’s Harsha murder case, he said that the NIA has this matter. He is sure that the truth will come out.
On the other hand, KS Eshwarappa, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, said that Halal is a notion that has been created by some people. Especially some parties. People of Karnataka are suffering unnecessarily. If Muslims want to eat Halal meat then they should eat it. But give freedom to Hindus what they want to eat. No one should impose on others what to eat. He said that he is Hindu but not against Muslims. They are only against those who raise the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad.
He said that Congress is creating disintegration between Hindu-Muslim for its own benefit. We do politics of development. His question was that why did the Congress not stop the 6 students who were raising their voice for this in the hijab case. Congress had to tell them that you guys study.
Significantly, there is a demand to ban Halal meat in Karnataka. Right-wing organizations say that animals are tortured to death for this. The meat of animals killed in this way is impure. Halal meat is recognized in Islam.
