The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday released the list of names of 30 candidates for the MLC elections. The BJP has also given ticket to Arun Kumar Yadav for the MLC election, whose father Ramakant Yadav has come from Phulpur Powai as an MLA on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Arun was elected from Phulpur-Powai assembly seat in the 2017 elections. However, this time the BJP had decided not to field him against his father.
Apart from this, the BJP has given tickets to four MLCs who left the SP before the assembly elections. Among them are Ravi Shankar Singh ‘Pappu’ from Ballia, Rama Niranjan from Jhansi-Jalaun-Lalitpur, CP Chand from Gorakhpur-Maharajganj and Narendra Bhati from Bulandshahr. Ravi Shankar Singh ‘Pappu’ is the grandson of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar.
The BJP has fielded Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Rae Bareli. Dinesh Pratap Singh has been MLC from Congress twice. The BJP has fielded Yuva Morcha President Pranshu Dutt Dwivedi from Etawah-Farrukhabad. He is the cousin of BJP’s Farrukhabad MLA Sunil Dutt Dwivedi.
The BJP has announced the names of candidates for 30 out of 36 local authorities. Nominations for MLC elections can be filed till March 21. Polling for MLC elections will be held on 9th April, results will be declared on 12th April.
On the other hand, after the defeat of the SP alliance in the assembly elections, voices of rebellion have started rising in the ally RLD. The party’s state unit president Masood Ahmed resigned from his post alleging that he sold tickets in the recent assembly elections. Masood Ahmed also wrote a letter to party chief Jayant Choudhary accusing the coalition leadership of adopting a dictatorial attitude. At the same time, Ahmed has also said here that unless SP chief Akhilesh Yadav gives equal respect, this alliance should be postponed. Let us inform that RLD has won 8 seats in the assembly elections.
