Despite the peasant movement, the SP-RLD alliance did not work in western UP. The BJP thwarted the jugalbandi of Akhilesh Yadav and Jayant Chaudhary by performing well here. At present, Jayant Chaudhary has dissolved all the units of the party. A meeting of RLD has been called on 21st, in which there is a possibility of a deep brainstorming on the future strategy along with reviewing the reasons for the defeat.
In western Uttar Pradesh, the RLD had fielded candidates on 33 seats. He won eight of them. The performance of RLD has been much better than last time. In 2017, the RLD, which contested the elections together with the SP and the Congress, got only one seat. The MLA who won also later went to BJP. Due to this the party had gone to zero. During that time he got only 1.78 percent of the votes. Whereas this time he has got about three percent votes.
The party wrote in its tweet that as per the instructions of National President of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Chaudhary Jayant Singh ji, the state, regional and district and all frontal organizations of Rashtriya Lok Dal Uttar Pradesh are dissolved with immediate effect. On behalf of the party, it was said that a meeting would be held on March 21 at 12 noon. This meeting will be held at the state office of RLD in Lucknow. The special thing is that on 21 itself, SP has also called its MLAs to Lucknow. He will also consult about the elections.
In the UP elections, however, this time the fight was considered difficult for the BJP. But looking at the results, it does not seem that Yogi and his team had to put in much effort. There were speculations that the SP-RLD government would give a tough fight. The results show that the pair of Akhilesh and Jayant failed to make any difference. Whereas with unemployment along with the failure of the government on various fronts, farmers were also a big issue.
