The main contest in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections was believed to be between the Samajwadi Party and the ruling party BJP. As soon as the counting of votes began, these estimates turned out to be true to a large extent when parties other than BJP and SP were not seen touching the double numbers. The BJP alone won 255 seats, while the SP won 111 seats. There was a very close contest between the two parties in many seats. Between victory and defeat in 15 assembly seats of the state, less than 1000 remained.
In a very close contest, the NDA won 8 seats with a margin of less than 1000 votes, while the SP alliance won 6 seats. In the assembly elections, the BJP alliance won 273 seats while the SP alliance won 125 seats.
In Nakur assembly seat, former minister Dharam Singh Saini was defeated by BJP’s Mukesh Choudhary by 315 votes. Before the elections, Saini had left the BJP and joined the SP.
In Baraut, Krishan Pal Malik of BJP defeated Jaiveer of RLD by a margin of 315 votes.
In Dhampur Assembly Constituency Ashok Kumar of BJP defeated Naeem Ul Hasan of SP by a margin of 203 votes.
In Kursi assembly seat, BJP’s Sankendra Pratap defeated Rakesh Kumar Verma of SP by 217 votes.
Omkumar of BJP defeated Munshi Ram of RLD by 258 votes in Nahtaur seat. The competition here too became very interesting.
In Katra seat, Veer Vikram Singh of BJP defeated Rajesh Yadav of SP by a margin of 357 votes.
BJP’s Ritesh Gupta won from Moradabad Nagar by a margin of 782 votes over Yusuf Ansari of SP.
In Bilaspur seat, Baldev Singh Aulakh of BJP defeated Amarjeet Singh of SP by a margin of 307 votes.
Ramesh of Nishad Party won from Shahganj by a margin of 719 votes over Shailendra Yadav Lalai of SP.
In Dibiyapur seat, SP candidate Pradeep Kumar Yadav defeated BJP’s Lakhan Singh Rajput by a margin of 473 votes.
In Isauli, Tahir Khan of SP defeated OP Pandey of BJP by a margin of 269 votes.
In Chandpur seat, SP’s Swami Omvesh defeated BJP’s Kamlesh Saini by a margin of 234 votes.
SP candidate Sachin Yadav won from Jasrana by a margin of 836 votes over BJP’s Manvendra Pratap Singh.
SP’s Syeda Khatoon defeated BJP’s Raghavendra Pratap Singh by a margin of 771 votes from Dumariaganj.
In Ramnagar assembly seat, SP’s Farid Kidwai defeated BJP candidate Shadkumar Awasthi by a margin of 261 votes.
