Bahubali Dhananjay Singh lost the election to SP candidate Lucky Yadav from Malhni assembly seat of Jaunpur district. Lucky Yadav defeated Dhananjay by 15,967 votes. Noted leader Dhananjay Singh was in the fray on the ticket of Janata Dal United. SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav had also campaigned for the SP candidate Lucky Yadav. Lucky Yadav is the son of former cabinet minister Parasnath Yadav.
Bahubali Dhananjay Singh had claimed that he would win the 2022 assembly elections, but Dhananjay Singh’s claim remained groundless. Although Dhananjay Singh was successful in pushing the BJP candidate to number three, but he did not win. Dhananjay Singh came into the limelight when a video of him playing cricket went viral, about which SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had also tweeted and targeted the Yogi government.
Dhananjay Singh loses to Lucky Yadav for the second time in a row
Dhananjay Singh lost to Lucky Yadav of SP for the second time in a row. Earlier, Lucky Yadav defeated Dhananjay in the 2020 by-election. However, the difference between victory and defeat in the by-election was only 4632 votes. In the 2020 by-election, BJP had made Manoj Singh its candidate and Manoj Singh got about 28 thousand votes and was at number three.
Dhananjay Singh lost to SP leader Paras Nath Yadav in the 2017 assembly elections. Dhananjay Singh was in the fray on a Nishad party ticket and was defeated by Parsnath Yadav by a margin of around 21,000 votes. Parasnath Yadav had defeated Dhananjay Singh’s wife Jagriti Singh in the 2012 elections as well. Jagriti Singh was an independent candidate and was defeated by SP leader Parasnath Yadav by more than 31 thousand votes.
Dhananjay Singh had contested as an independent for the first time in 2002 and won. Dhananjay Singh was elected MLA from Rari seat. In the 2007 assembly elections, Dhananjay Singh had won on a JDU ticket. The delimitation of the seat took place in 2008 and the name of this seat was changed to Malhani Vidhan Sabha. In 2009, Dhananjay was elected MP on a BSP ticket. In the 2012 assembly elections, Dhananjay Singh contested his wife and she lost the election. Dhananjay Singh’s wife is the district panchayat president.
