Out of the 255 seats that BJP has won in the UP assembly elections, 222 assembly seats are those where BJP was at number one in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well. All these seats are spread over Western UP, Central UP and Eastern UP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP was at number one in 275 assembly seats in UP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won 62 out of 80 seats while its ally Apna Dal Sonelal had won two seats.
Out of the remaining 53 assembly seats, where the BJP stood first in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, both its allies have won 15 seats this time. Apna Dal (Sonilal) has won 11 seats and Nishad Party won 4 seats. The BJP alliance has won 273 assembly seats in UP.
The BJP along with its allies maintained its lead in the same 237 assembly seats where the party had stood first in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Out of 275 seats, the party lost only 38 seats. In this SP won 33, RLD 3 and Congress 2 seats.
These figures show that the BJP only defeated the anti-incumbency wave. Rather, issues like unemployment, corona, floating corpses and bulls had no effect on the BJP in the UP elections. During the UP elections, the opposition parties made the issue of stray animals and PM Modi had also said about it that after the formation of the government, he would make a permanent solution to it.
The UP assembly elections saw a direct fight between the BJP and the SP, while the BSP won just one seat. In UP, there was a direct fight between BJP and SP on 305 seats, in which BJP won 206 seats. Whereas SP won 99 seats.
After the massive victory, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Friday evening and submitted his resignation.
