After the defeat of the BJP in the West Bengal assembly elections, Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty, who has been missing from politics, is once again seen coming out in support of his party. This time he has come up against his own Bollywood partner Shatrughan Sinha. Mithun has appealed to vote for Angamitra Paul, who is contesting against Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol.
BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has now released a video asking voters of Asansol Lok Sabha constituency to vote for BJP’s Angamitra Paul in the upcoming by-elections. In the video, he describes Angamitra Paul as ‘his sister’. He said- “She is a good designer and comes from a good home. She won’t rob. She wants to work for development. She will stand by you. She hasn’t come here for anything else.”
Mithun further said that he cannot go to Asansol to campaign due to ill health. But he wants people to vote for Angamitra Paul. He said that people should not be afraid, go on the day of voting and vote for Paul.
Let us tell you that before the West Bengal elections, Mithun Chakraborty had joined the BJP in March 2021. Then his statements made a lot of headlines. Although Mithun remained absent from political rallies and programs after the defeat, he has now come to the fore after almost a year.
In West Bengal, bypolls to Ballygunge assembly and Asansol Lok Sabha constituency will be held on April 12. The counting of votes will take place on April 16. Prior to Asansol, former BJP leader Babul Supriyo was an MP, but after the assembly elections, he left the BJP and joined the TMC, after which he resigned from this seat. However, when the turn of the by-election came, TMC left Supriyo and gave ticket to Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha from here.
On the other hand, TMC has fielded Babul Supriyo from Ballygunge assembly seat. This seat was also earlier with TMC and Subroto Mukherjee was MLA from here, he was also a minister in Mamta government. He passed away in November last year, after which the seat has been vacant.
