Imagine what will happen if you are boring for water and gas starts coming out of it instead of water. A similar incident has come to light from Jumta village of Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. Where flammable gas is leaking from the borewell. The incident has created panic among the villagers. As soon as the information about the gas leak was received, the administration team reached the spot and barricades have been put up near the borewell. People have also been instructed to stay away from there.
Panna Collector Sanjay Kumar Mishra has called a special team of scientists of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) to investigate the gas leak. About 15 days ago, borewells were being dug for water in the government school premises of Jumta. During this also the fire broke out due to the release of flammable gas from the borewell. With the help of fire brigade, the administration brought the fire under control. After this a team of experts was called from Dehradun. A team of experts has tested the gas and water and installed a large chimney in the bore for safety.
After 2-3 days of this incident, gas started leaking from several other borewells in the village. Later Panna Collector Sanjay Mishra and Police Commissioner Dharmaraj Meena reached the village. He instructed the people to take precautions. People have been instructed to keep a distance of 10 feet from the bore from which the gas leaked and not to carry any flammable material near the bore.
