The embryo that develops inside the abdominal cavity usually perishes within four months.
In medical science, strange incidents keep coming to the fore every day. Another similar incident has been observed in New Delhi, where the fetus was developing inside the abdominal cavity instead of the uterus of a woman. Even in this rare event, doctors had made possible the birth of a woman’s baby girl. Normally the fetus develops in the uterus along with the fertilized placenta in the woman’s body. Provides nutrients and oxygen to the baby attached to the wall of the uterus.
Anjali Choudhary, an obstetrician and obstetrician present at the hospital, said that usually in cases where the embryo develops inside the abdominal cavity, the embryo does not survive for more than four to five months. However, in this case, the fetus was fully developed in the pregnancy and due to this, she decided to give birth to the baby through surgery. Anjali told that the woman came to him in the seventh month of her pregnancy. The position of the fetus could not be detected in all the six ultrasounds conducted before this.
Doctors told that they had to insert a stent in the woman’s ureter to manage the situation. However, even after this, the position of the girl could not be ascertained, after which the situation came to the fore on scanning and it was found that the child was upside down i.e. her feet were towards the vagina. Doctors told that it was a very serious surgery. The woman was bleeding profusely after delivery, due to which she had to transfuse four units of plasma and three units of blood. The girl was also handed over to the family members after being kept in the ICU for 12 hours. At present both mother and baby are healthy.
