Will continue as interim chief minister till successor is announced
Bengaluru, July 26 (IANS) | Karnataka Chief Minister B. s. Yediyurappa submitted his resignation to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Monday. Earlier, he had announced his resignation by tweeting and said that it is an honor for him to serve the state for two years. In a tweet in Kannada, Yediyurappa said he has submitted his resignation to the governor and has been asked to continue as interim chief minister till his successor is announced.
He tweeted, “I have decided to resign as Chief Minister of Karnataka. I am humbled and sincerely thank the people of the state for giving them the opportunity to serve them. I thank PM Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party. Grateful to National President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support.”
Soon after his speech at a function celebrating the completion of two years of his term, he announced his decision. Yediyurpa accompanied by his cabinet colleagues went to the Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation.
