Summary
According to a research, people who have very low immunity can benefit from additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
The third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine must be taken by those people whose immunity has decreased due to some reason. This has come to the fore in a research. Especially the third dose is most important for those who have to have an organ transplant. Since their body is not able to make more antibodies to fight the corona virus, it is necessary.
University of Singapore research
According to a research published in BMJ, people who have very low immunity may benefit from additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Researchers from the National University of Singapore said that after an analysis of 82 research, it has become clear that people who have already reduced immunity or have suddenly decreased, they must take the third dose. In this research, mRNA vaccine was used in 77 cases while viral vector vaccine was used in 16.
Seroconversion has been found to be reduced in people who have reduced immunity after a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Seroconversion is the process of making antibodies after infection or vaccination. This enables the immune system to compete with the virus. It has also been told in research that the immunity of blood cancer patients is significantly reduced compared to solid cancer. Whereas in people who have to undergo an organ transplant, the immunity decreases by 16 times.
