45 Indians Died in Kuwait Fire Accident: The bodies of 45 Indian citizens who died in the massive fire in Kuwait city on Wednesday are being brought back to India by a special plane. The plane will land in Kochi today i.e. Friday morning and then leave for Delhi. At present the plane is on its way. The bodies of the deceased from different states in Kochi and Delhi will be handed over to the state governments.
According to the statement, most of the deceased were from Kerala (23), followed by seven from Tamil Nadu, three each from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, two from Odisha and one each from Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Haryana.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh reached Kuwait on Thursday. As soon as he reached, he coordinated with the Kuwaiti government to bring back the body as soon as possible. He died in a fire in a building in the Mangaf area on Wednesday.
Of the 176 Indian workers present in the building, 45 died, while 33 are hospitalised and the rest are said to be safe. Soon after arriving in Kuwait, the minister visited five hospitals (Aden, Mubarak Al-Kabir, Jaber, Farwaniya and Jahra) where the injured Indians are being treated, and interacted with them. According to hospital officials, all the patients are said to be safe and will be discharged gradually depending on their medical condition.
Kirti Vardhan Singh first met the Home Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, who assured full support and assistance for the early repatriation of the bodies of the deceased and proper medical care for all those admitted in the hospital. The minister also met Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and Health Minister Ahmed Abdelwahab Ahmed Al-Awadi.
The embassy expressed deep condolences
The Embassy expressed its deep condolences to the bereaved families and said that it is in constant touch with the local authorities and ensuring all necessary assistance to the injured and those evacuated from the accident site.
The embassy said it is operating a dedicated 24×7 helpline +965-65505246 (WhatsApp and regular calls) for the family members of the deceased and injured. Regular updates are being provided through the helpline.
Who applied ointment on the wound
Sheikh Fahad inspected illegal buildings in several areas of Kuwait on Thursday. He said that Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has given instructions to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased. However, he did not mention the amount of compensation. Kuwait’s NTBC company management has announced a compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the Mangaf area. PM Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of all the deceased. The Kerala government will also give Rs 5 lakh each as compensation to the families of the deceased. Lulu Group has also announced compensation.
