Supaul. The death of a laborer who had gone to Saudi Arabia from Basantpur in Supaul district has created an uproar among the family members. The relatives are accusing him of murder and demanding the dead body. 47-year-old Lal Bahadur Sah, resident of Basantpur Panchayat, had gone to Rafah in Saudi Arabia on July 4, 2023 to work as a labourer. Things went well for a few days, but for the last few months, communication with his family members also stopped. When the family members talked to the agent who took him abroad, they got information that he had died. Here, before his death, laborer Lal Bahadur Shah had made a video of him grazing sheep in the desert and appealed to the people not to come abroad for the greed of money. It was also alleged that despite doing the right work, the owner beats him daily.
The victim’s family and villagers allege that Lal Bahadur Sah, father of 7 daughters, had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand and gone to Saudi Arabia at the behest of Doman Sah of the village, but after reaching Rafah, Lal Bahadur Sah made a video on his mobile and sent it to those who They are coming to Saudi Arabia to work, they should not come. It was also said in the video that Indian laborers are beaten here.
He also said in the video, ‘My boss beats me. My knee is broken. I also have injuries in my waist and chest but my employer does not even get me treated. In the video, he appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs and said that he had requested to expel him from Saudi Arabia. The suspicion of murder was also expressed.
Here, the news came from Saudi Arabia on 1 May 2024 that Lal Bahadur Shah had died on 25 April. Till date, neither his body has been sent nor the family members are getting the correct information about the incident. The family members have filed an application to the DM pleading for justice.
Shakuni Devi, wife of Lal Bahadur Shah, has demanded her husband’s body from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Alleged that despite getting work done in Saudi, he was neither given food nor salary. Shakuni Devi told that on July 20, 2023, she had got the passport made by taking a loan.
