Pran Pratishtha will take place on 22nd January in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
Ram Mandir movement has a very deep connection with Samastipur.
Lal Krishna Advani was arrested from Circuit House.
Samastipur. Maryada Purushottam A grand temple is being constructed in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram and on January 22, Maryada Purushottam will be consecrated in the temple. After a long struggle of 500 years, today the dream that he had in front of the entire Indian people seems to be coming true. Ram Janmabhoomi movement and Samastipur also have a different history. When the name of Samastipur comes, the picture of Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra starts passing before everyone’s eyes.
In the year 1990, the Rath Yatra was started from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya by the senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, former National President LK Advani, on 25 September 1990 with the resolve to build a grand temple in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Ayodhya. This Rath Yatra was to reach Ayodhya on 30 October. Lal Krishna Advani was about to attend the Kar Seva there. This Rath Yatra started from Gaya in Bihar, passing through different parts of the country, passing through different districts of Bihar and reached Samastipur late in the evening of 22 October 1990.
On 23 October 1990, LK Advani was to address a huge public meeting at the historic Patel Maidan in Samastipur. In this regard, tremendous preparations were made by all the affiliated organizations of the Sangh including Bharatiya Janata Party, RSS, Vidyarthi Parishad. When this Rath Yatra reached near Kothia in the border of Samastipur after Hajipur. From there, he continued moving forward with the crowd of workers with slogans of Jai Shri Ram. People used to shower flowers and perform aarti of the chariot at every intersection.
Late in the evening on 22 October 1990, the chariot reached the Circuit House of Samastipur. Had to rest for the night here. After this, the journey would proceed further the next morning by addressing the public meeting at Patel Maidan. Lal Krishna Advani stayed in room number seven of Circuit House. Dr. Kailashpati Mishra also stayed with him in another room in the Circuit House. The entire Samastipur city was on high alert. Police forces were deployed at every nook and corner. When Lal Krishna Advani went to rest, all the prominent workers also left from there to prepare for the programme.
Chandrakant Choudhary of Samastipur BJP and people of Sangh associated with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement recall that day and say that when Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra arrived, a huge crowd had gathered. At various places, people were standing on both sides of the road in welcome. He says that when the Rath Yatra entered Kothiya in Samastipur, there was a plan to arrest him at that very moment. But, due to the huge crowd, no arrests could be made there. He reached the Circuit House at 11 pm and the meeting was to be held on the morning of 23 October.
The helicopter reached Patel Maidan early in the morning. After which Lal Krishna Advani was arrested after reaching the Circuit House. After this, demonstration started by the workers present there. Late Bhagya Narayan Rai of BJP came in front of the vehicle in which Advani ji was being arrested and taken away. An attempt was also made to stop it by Gangotri Prasad and other workers. After this, everyone was removed by the police by lathi charge.
It is said that as soon as the news of Lal Krishna Advani’s arrest spread, the entire market including the railways was closed. But, after the explanation of Dr. Kailashpati Mishra, National Vice President of BJP at that time, everything became normal. The then Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, had sent the then DIG Rameshwar Oraon, posted at the police headquarters, and ISS officer RK Singh to arrest LK Advani, who reached room number 7 of the Circuit House and informed about the arrest.
The news of Advani ji’s arrest from room number 7 of Circuit House, Samastipur spread like wildfire. Many big journalists from India and abroad had also arrived to cover the Rath Yatra of Lal Krishna Advani. Everyone was preparing to cover Advani’s public meeting. Meanwhile, the news of the arrest diverted the bus towards Circuit House. By the time any journalist reached the spot, the team sent by Lalu Prasad Yadav with Advaniji was about to arrest him and reach Patel Maidan.
On the situation at that time, Samastipur’s photojournalist Girinder Mohan tells that when he was reaching near Patel Maidan on his scooter, he saw that Advani ji was being taken in an art colored Ambassador car. Slogans of Jai Shri Ram and LK Advani were being raised all around, the police was not allowing anyone to go ahead. Somehow he reached near the Circuit House after which he tried to go inside the Circuit House, but he was not allowed inside. Then he went to the other end of the circuit house and started capturing pictures in his camera. But, an attempt was made to snatch the camera which was stopped by the policemen. The only picture of the chariot was captured by him in the camera. Even today he keeps that picture safely.
Another person associated with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement is Dr. Ramvilas Rai, a resident of Birha village of Rosra sub-division area in Samastipur. He left for Ayodhya for tax service with eight people. Dr. Ramvilas Rai tells about what happened next, when the foundation stone of Ram temple was laid by Kameshwar Chaupal in 1989. He was present there on the occasion and that dream has now completely come true. When the Babri structure was demolished, a team of eight people had left from Rosra for Ayodhya. There was strict security to arrest tax officials on the way. He was arrested in Gorakhpur and taken to Azamgarh and remained in jail for 8 days.
Dr. Ram Vilas Rai says that when he reached the jail, he was stunned to see the public cooperation of the people there. The local people helped him and provided adequate amount of food and drink in the jail, seeing which even the jailers were surprised. Dr. Ram Vilas Rai says that when he was in the last two days of jail, he started Ashtyam Ramdhun there. On the concluding day of this Ashtyam, the structure collapsed and the dream of building a temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya came true today. Ram temple will prove to be a lamp of Indian cultural history which will be a lamp of equality and it will be a lamp of glory for the whole of India.
