To check human trafficking, Railway Protection Force has entered into an agreement with the Association for Voluntary Action of Railways, according to which both the organizations will now work together. Railway Protection Force (RPF) has signed an MoU with Association for Voluntary Action (AVA) for a smuggling free nation. In fact, Indian Railways is the primary transporter for the country and hence a major mode of transport for human traffickers. RPF personnel deployed at railway stations and trains are strategically positioned to reach the victim’s destination and prevent smuggling before exploitation begins.
In view of this, with a view to work together with a common goal of making the country trafficking free, RPF DG Sanjay Chander along with Kailash Satyarthi Children Foundation (KSCF) CEO Rajni Sibal in the presence of Kailash Satyarthi in this regard in April last month. Detailed discussions were started. Following which the deliberations have been taken forward with the signing of the MoU on Friday, in which both the RPF and the AVA (also known as Bachpan Bachao Andolan) collaborated with the RPF to share information, work against human trafficking. Pledged to work together to enhance the sensitivity, capacity building of personnel and railway employees.
Both the organizations will help each other in creating awareness and detection and detection of human trafficking cases. According to the Railways, a joint action of both the organizations under the agreement will certainly increase the scale, reach and effectiveness of Operation AAHT (Action Against Human Trafficking) launched by RPF across the country.
Railway Protection Force has been entrusted with the responsibility of security of railway property, passenger area and passengers. Under Operation Nanhe Farishte, more than 50,000 children have been rescued since 2018. The RPF has set up Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) at more than 740 locations across the country, in coordination with other agencies in the region to take action against human trafficking.
The Voluntary Action Association, also known as Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), is associated with the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, founded in 1980 under the leadership of Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The organization frees and rehabilitates vulnerable and exploited children and helps prosecute those responsible for atrocities.
The partnership focuses on three key aspects: training and capacity building, sensitization and awareness campaigns and raid and rescue support.
According to the joint statement, BBA will provide technical assistance for conducting training and awareness workshops for RPF personnel to 750 Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) and other railway employees working at various stations.
To sensitize and inform passengers and create resistance among criminals, BBA will also provide audio-visual material, which can be displayed in the form of video clips or declared as voice messages on trains or railway stations. can go.
This includes training railway personnel to identify potential victims in raid and rescue partnerships. The RPF will take immediate action on the information of BBA and its affiliates, cyber cell, state police and other law enforcement agencies, the statement said.
