In the Jahangirpuri area of the capital Delhi, the ruckus started late on Saturday evening when some people suddenly pelted stones on the procession which started from C block near Kushal Cinema, after which there was chaos. After this, the miscreants created a ruckus fiercely for about 50 minutes.
During this stone pelting, swords were waved and arson was done. People on both sides raised slogans. People also did not spare the police who reached the spot, they also pelted stones and damaged a gypsy. The police dispersed the crowd using mild force and brought the situation under control.
Police has started the investigations in the case. The police have identified six suspects by going through the CCTV footage and videos running on social media. On the basis of suspicion, about 12 people have been taken into custody for questioning. Several teams of police were busy collecting clues from the spot till late night. The detained people were being taken to different places and interrogated.
Rumors spread: People present on the spot say that during the procession, a rumor was spread that some people had entered a religious place located in C-Block. After that the situation became tense. However, Special Commissioner Deependra Pathak says that it is a matter of investigation that who is responsible for this. It is too early to make any statement on this without doing a thorough investigation. Police are trying to identify the suspects. We will solve the matter soon.
Cantonment area: At present, the entire Jahangirpuri area has been converted into a cantonment. Police is trying to control the situation. Security forces conducted flag march in the area. Additional police force has been deployed in the entire area, making the entire area visible like a cantonment within half a kilometer radius of Kushal Cinema.
Instructions to the officers to stay in the area: Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has instructed senior police officers to stay in the area. Instructions have been given to patrol continuously with a close watch on law and order. Under the orders of the commissioner, dozens of teams of senior officers including the special commissioner law and order of the range to the joint commissioner, deputy commissioner are patrolling the area and talking to the people are trying to normalize the situation.
Security has also been increased in UP on Delhi border: After the violence in Jahangirpuri, UP Police increased security along the borders with Delhi. UP’s ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar has talked about increasing the security. On the other hand, Delhi Police has appealed to the people for peace. After the violence in Jahangirpuri, Uttar Pradesh Police increased security along the borders with Delhi. Police teams have been instructed to patrol all the areas. BJP will send delegation for investigation
BJP state president Adesh Gupta said that a delegation of Delhi BJP will go to Jahangirpuri and investigate the matter from its level. Along with this, detailed information will be given about the incident after meeting the Home Minister.
